bowel cancer screening facts - early diagnosis saves lives
What you need to know
If you’re aged 60 to 74, you'll be sent a bowel screening test kit every 2 years.
If you're 75 or over you can still take a bowel screening test every 2 years. You'll need to request a new test kit each time. You won't be sent one automatically.
Send one small sample of poo in the envelope provided. The sample is checked for signs of blood.
In two weeks you will receive your results. Either no further tests are needed or they may be a need for further tests if blood was found in your stool sample.
About 98% of people do not need further tests.
What you'll be sent
The new bowel screening test kit includes:
a small tube (vial) to collect your poo sample
